James Palmer
Oxford Brookes University Oxford | UK
A dissertation exploring the roles of craft and ornament in architecture. In an increasingly digitally driven construction process, new opportunities have been revealed to reintroduce richly detailed and ornamental elements in architecture through digital modelling and computer aided manufacturing. This dissertation seeks to locate the role of the craftsperson in a landscape where materials are increasingly processed by machines in the pursuit of luxury and the bespoke.
