In Nigeria, 50.2% of the urban population live in slums. These slums or squatter communities are the current provider of large stock of affordable housing. However, they are characterised by squalid conditions; insecure tenure; inadequate infrastructure; and urban exclusion.Through critical investigation and analysis, the dissertation establishes a manifesto for planning; and the successful delivery of low income housing.
