Manufacturing Equilibrium Part 2 Dissertation 2024 Nour Al-Kheder Kuwait University | Kuwait "Seeing is believing, but feeling is the truth." In an anthropocentric world, smaller beings are often overlooked in favor of larger entities. This tendency leads humans to contribute to systems that counteract their efforts, resulting in degradation beyond their ideologies, evident in the negative impacts of the Anthropocene. No action is without cost."Manufacturing equilibrium" emerged from observing the declining numbers of the painted lady butterfly in Kuwait. Initially abundant, their numbers dwindled, prompting questions about the cause. It became clear that a larger, complex actor-network was at play. This led to a proposal to reverse engineer these encounters to understand the continuing decline. The dissertation explores endangered and extinct beings on Kuwait’s coast, particularly in Al-Subbaiya and Shumaymah Beach. A brownfield site, damaged by anthropogenic activity, is proposed for architectural reinvention to rehabilitate it. This project, which works in both the short and long term, investigates whether humans can reverse the Anthropocene's effects by creating adaptable foundations. It emphasizes the need for human and non-human connections to achieve equilibrium. Nour Al-Kheder Tutor(s) Dalal Musaed Alsayer
