This research examjnes the impact of Zionist Settler-Colonialism on the development of Palestinian areas in the Ramallah governate. Backdropped by increasing settlement expansion, and the simultaneous djsplacement and destruction of Palestinian areas and infrastructure, this research provides an up-to-date insight into urban planning in the context of Zionist colonialism in the occupied West Bank through case studies and interviews \vith refugees. The investigation is focussed on the changing Palestinian built environment from 1948 until the present, with field-based insight provided on the areas of Wadi Hunayn, Abu Shusha, Al Am'ari and Ein Arik. This is paired with an analysis of the growth and character of Zionist settlements over the same period, with particular focus on the settlement enterprise across the occupied West Bank, such as Psagot, since 1967. The research demonstrates how both local physical context and overarching political factors have an impact on the built environment of the i.nvestigated areas.

Concluding this research; it was found that that Palestinian areas are deprived of the capacity to achieve sustainable urban development due to the Nakba, unfulfilled right of return and the ongoing occupation, with the only meaningful and sustainable solution being the fulfilment of international law regarding the occupied territaries.
