Middlepoint on the Edge of the Village Part 2 Project 2025 Bence Temesvári Budapest University of Technology and Economics | Hungary Turning onto the access road to Gerla, I head straight toward the gate tower of the former Wenckheim manor house, then stop before the wrought iron gate that has been locked for decades. I have known the stories and memories related to the manor since my childhood and during making my diploma project I sneaked in in order to discover the perishable values hiding behind the gate. My aim was to let others know the story of the manor and to adjust it to its present environment. In my work I tried to open its closed doors through my presence there, and to continue its story in line with its surroundings, serving the local people.I imagined creating a home between the walls of the ruin with my future family, while the courtyard opens again for all, and Gerla’s communities gather around the festive table in the great hall. Slowly, with simple means, the manor house comes back to life. The aim is not total reconstruction, but to know it well, learn from it, and use it with care. Tutor(s)
