Dynamic Re-Use: Extreme Sports Complex at the Red Hook Grain Terminal Part 2 Project 2025 Hung-Hsin Liang Columbia University | USA 'Dynamic Re-use: Extreme Sports Complex at the Red Hook Grain Terminal' transformed the originally enclosed silo structure into an opened space to accommodate extreme sports activities - by dynamically dissect into the bigness of the existing, dynamically assemble and re-use, and to find a dynamic structure and program that brings the community together as a social condenser. The program experiments with the spatial quality of the silos and intends to create experiences that are unconventional to the sports: rock-climbing, skateboarding, and kayaking. The “dynamic quality” uncovered by the radical structural operation imagines an adaptive tectonic in re-use that engages with the extremes from the past, present, and future. Tutor(s)
