Part 1 Project 2024

Based within Gosport, the overarching brief within this project is ‘Coastal Resilience’; with rising climates, sea levels and pollution, our waterways are in urgent need of attention. With a rich heritage and relation to war, Gosport is still fighting, economically and through climatic effects. Research shows how small seaside towns will be more seasonal, meaning tourism is lacking, proving worse effects on the local economy and population. This will further low wages and unemployment, and with a lack of educational facilities within the area, people will become out-commuters, ultimately utilising Gosport as a hostel to sleep before leaving again. Piercing through the coastal lines, this studio has collaborated to reinforce the suburbs, defending and blending the sea with the land. Furthering developments, we are able to formulate a rich masterplan with various strategies to nurse Gosport back to health. Catering for the multiplicity of urban growth, we can actively solve issues surrounding health, transport, coastal resilience and SDG involvement and bring life back into the regions of Gosport and Fareham through subjective pigmentation.
