Lighthouse of Encounters Part 1 Project 2025 Daniel Marcel Paz Pérez Pilot University of Colombia Bogota | Colombia The project proposes to rediscover Cartagena through a hybrid building that integrates the public and the private, without breaking with the historical symbolism of the walled city. The second floor is conceived as a play and meeting space, connecting the beaches with the surrounding park, in a gesture that invites visitors to enter the city through the architecture. A central atrium acts as the lung of the project, promoting community interaction through terraces, free facades and strategic voids. The building is organized in two towers oriented from east to west. The basement functions as an open platform with public uses, while the upper levels house hotels, offices and cultural spaces - libraries, gymnasiums, art and dance halls - favoring a harmonious flow between functions. A vertical corridor divides the eastern volume, ensuring cross ventilation and thermal comfort, complemented by landscaped cantilevers and a mesh that filters solar radiation.Beyond its function, the building seeks to become a symbolic lighthouse: not as a literal tower, but as an accessible and meaningful landmark for the community. It is a proposal that responds to the context with sensitivity, complexity and urban openness. Tutor(s)
