Manufactory of Enjoyment: A Market Hall Hybrid Part 2 Project 2024 Lina Gasperi University of Liechtenstein | Liechtenstein Manufactory of Enjoyment: A Market Hall HybridMarket Halls are both, places of culinary enjoyment and public life. Beyond time and place, these spaces create a unique atmosphere, sense of community and interaction. The city of Dornbirn in Austria is asking for such a place and aspires a continuation of its development through a contemporary market hall. The site in the city center already has existing structures that have to be addressed, such as the regular street market or vacant buildings. As a result, a concrete architectural design for a market hall hybrid with a complementary concept at the specific location in Dornbirn is proposed, which exploits the urban potential in accordance with the existing context and the architectural typology of these spaces. In a subtle way the project introduces an innovation of the market hall typology through the inclusion of the existing buildings, the interplay of various spaces and its hybrid, complementary role in its urban context. In this way, the project meets the symbolic value of a contemporary market hall, that offers new culinary delights and strengthens the community, identity and awareness in the center of Dornbirn through spatial, social and lasting values.
